Resume Assignment Best Practices
Through our partners’ experience with Quinncia, we have learned that the students best learn from our system from short frequent assignments. In this article, we explain how to break down the resume piece into manageable portions for students. We’ve found that when students use Quinncia in these smaller more frequent iterations, they comprehend the information better and have a superior overall experience.
If you have any questions about these best practices, please feel free to reach out to your University Relationship Manager.
Assignment #1
Have the students create an applicant tracking system friendly version of their resume. Their resume can be a very basic overall formatting, no graphics, and compelling bullet points. Having this down is key for the students to be successful in their resume review. Utilize the "Need Help" button for articles and videos with deeper explanations of their feedback.
Assignment #2
Now have the students upload their edited resume to Quinncia. Review their overall resume analysis. Look through the Quinncia help center for explanation documents on each piece of the analysis and short videos on all the flags the student received. Now try and get those flags to 0.
Assignment #3
Now that the students have gotten to 0 flags on their resume, they can start working on improvements. Students should use a bit more critical thinking when it comes to the improvements. These are just suggestions for an overall better resume. So Quinn might suggest adding a skills section, then also suggest keeping your resume to one page. The student will have to think of what improvement would be most beneficial to them and then implement from there. For this assignment, students should try to get to less than 10 improvements.
